A bird watching from above, spotting something in the distance down on the water.... Suddenly the bird flies down, reaching the surface in few seconds.
Focused and determined, only a fraction of a second before Air and Water establish a contact, the bird glides on the water surface.
Skimming the Water...
Skimming Water is an indie-rock music project founded in Amersfoort (NL) by musician / composer Andrea Maddalena, influenced by various musical genres including rock, folk, psychedelic, early music. With own repertoire, at the moment he is performing as a one-man band, making use of the technical support of a looper and vocal processor: the result is a surprising, hypnotic musical journey between acoustic sounds and technology, with texts - generally in English, sometimes in Italian - based on introspection and personal experiences. He already played two times at the pop/rock stage FLUOR (Amersfoort, NL), on a regular basis he is to be heard live in radio airplay at several regional Dutch radio stations, and he is constantly performing living room concerts throughout the Netherlands.
Andrea Maddalena is an Italian musician / composer from Amersfoort. After five years studying classical guitar in Italy, he founded several rock music projects with radio airplay on the major rock radio station (Radio Rock) in Rome. In the Netherlands, in 2002 he co-founded the folk band "Senso Unico" and then in 2003 the band "Brothers from Different Mothers" (BFDM). From 2015 he is the founder and leader of the indie-rock music project "Skimming Water".
With BFDM he released two albums, performed in France and at various radio stations including Giel Beelen's 3FM, Radio 6, BNR and Radio 2 - where their single 'Suavesito' is still played by Hans Schiffer. In January 2013 on the main stage of "Paradiso" Amsterdam he won with BFDM the '30 x 20 minutes' Festival organized by Radio Penguin.
